Purpose and Commitment
DCBL and DCB Legal are committed to conducting all aspects of its business in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.
As a national debt collection and field services company and civil litigation specialists, we recognise that our operations — including office activities, travel, procurement, and waste generation — have an impact on the environment.
We are therefore committed to managing and reducing these impacts in line with the principles of continual improvement, pollution prevention, and compliance with all applicable environmental legislation and standards, including ISO 14001:2015.
Scope
This policy applies to all business operations carried out by Direct Collection Bailiffs Limited and DCB Legal Ltd., covering:
- Office-based activities across all locations (administration, client services, and management functions).
- Field-based operations, including visits and collections conducted by enforcement agents and field officers.
- All employees, contractors, and suppliers acting on behalf of the company.
Our Environmental Objectives
To support this commitment, DCBL and DCB Legal have established measurable environmental objectives and targets as part of our Environmental Management System (EMS). Our key focus areas include:
- Reducing energy consumption within our offices through improved efficiency and staff awareness.
- Minimising waste and increasing recycling rates, aiming for 60% diversion from landfill by 2026.
- Reducing paper usage by transitioning to digital communication and document management.
- Lowering travel-related emissions by promoting virtual meetings and introducing low-emission vehicles.
- Sourcing sustainably, giving preference to suppliers with accredited environmental management systems.
- Raising staff awareness to ensure environmental responsibilities are understood and embedded in daily activities.
- Complying with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and other obligations detailed in Interested Parties and Regulatory_Contractual Req Tracker.
- Continuously improving the effectiveness of our EMS through regular audits, management reviews, and feedback.
Implementation and Responsibility
- The Board of Directors has overall accountability for environmental performance and compliance.
- The Head of Risk and Compliance is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the Environmental Management System.
- All employees are expected to contribute to the company’s environmental goals by following good environmental practices and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Suppliers and contractors are encouraged to adopt similar environmental standards and work collaboratively to reduce impacts throughout the supply chain.
Communication and Awareness
This policy is:
- Communicated to all employees through induction, training, and internal communications.
- Made available to clients, partners, and the public through our website and on request.
- Reviewed annually to ensure its continued suitability, adequacy, and alignment with DCBL’s strategic objectives.
Review
This policy will be reviewed annually by the Head of Risk and Compliance and senior management team, or sooner if significant operational, regulatory, or environmental changes occur. The review will consider performance against objectives and opportunities for continual improvement.
